Adventure Spots - Ours and Yours

It's June. Officially a summer month, and one I have always loved. It's also a time when I start thinking about having an adventure...to some beautiful, place more distant than my town. Last summer we had a wonderous trip through the western national parks, and spent a little time on the Oregon coast.

The Columbia River gorge is beautiful - lush and exotic, fragrant, and heady with motion and sound. The waterfalls are astounding - and we love Multomah falls particularly. There's an upper and lower falls, with hiking paths for those who want to get up close and personal. The regular tourist path is paved, and leads you to this footbridge, spanning the cliff walls between upper and lower falls. Stunning.

Where is one of your favorite adventure spots, and why does it touch your soul?

Wow...this is really a great shot. You should enter it into the National Geographic contest. I love it.
An Adventure sounds so good! Its hard for me right now with my little ones, but before kids, I used to LOVE to travel all over the world and experience different cultures. A few that touched my soul were the islands Indonesia and Macchu Picchu in Peru (we had hiked the Inca trail to get there).
Lately adventure consists of spontaneously packing the kids up into the car and heading out to the beach or lake and seeing how long they can last! LOL, Can't wait to travel again! Have so much fun on your adventures this summer!

Thanks for visiting my blog today. I made sure I clicked the follow button so I can visit again. :)

It is a great shot!! Waterfalls give off such a positive energy. I love anywhere near the ocean - although we are now in winter (how weird is that?) so no ocean trips for a while :)
We are hoping to venture back to the Pacific Coast this year. Last year, Cody and I went to Big Sur......it was an amazing trip! This year, we are going back, but this time to the Oregon Coast!

What a beautiful waterfall. I've been wanting to visit Oregon and falls like these are just one more reason for me to go!

My favorite adventure spot is the Mayan Riviera. My husband and I were married there, and the drive through the Sian Ka'an biosphere holds special memories for us.

Wow! I soooo want to go out west again. It's been several years and I always find it so fascinating and magical. That waterfall looks incredible!

I had a blast in Hawaii last summer on my honeymoon (Kauai and Maui), but another beautiful place I've been to is the Adirondacks. I went there in '07 and I'm lucky enough to be going again this August. It's absolutely gorgeous out there! And I always loved going up north to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Canada. But yes, the west always calls to me... :)

OH, you make me so eager for July. Can't wait to get home. One of my soul spots is Crater Lake. We always stay at Wilson's Cottages and Campgrounds. You know, I enjoy that as much as my time at the lake.

I am getting wanderlust again just reading all your posts! What a well-traveled/adventurous group of bloggers we are - excellent! I haven't traveled much outside the U.S. and Canada - but we adored Costa Rica two years ago. There's a slide-show of images at the bottom of the blog. Crater lake is beatiful, and I've noted the name of he campground - thank you.

Happy Week- being home and loving photography

Roamin Meets the GPS- Stories from the Road Lisa, my favorite Curious Girl , created a wonderful idea for a week of "happy" posts. Share those things which make you happy, bring joy to your life, and generally fill you with happy thoughts (I do love the movie Hook , with Robin Williams). We are just returned from our fabulous 23-day, 5600 mile, 10 state, 4 time-zone adventure, and I am filled with happy thoughts today. I am also aware of the piles of laundry, the dirty car, the grocery shopping, and the weary body. Those are not the things I'll share today! Today it's about the joy of road-tripping. The miracle that we live in such a country that everywhere you go you see something to celebrate. I love driving down the road and seeing something new, or different, or unexpected. We drove for a very long time across the upper mid-west, while following signs for "Wall Drugs." Apparently this is a historic stop, originally a place for those who crossed the coun...

Hidden Gem

Thank you, Georgia , for helping me focus on the hidden gem, the place we love to go and not be found. Not far from home...it IS home. We call it "out back," and once there we are transported to a private place, not visible from houses or road or the casual observer. I couldn't choose just one photo, so I created a collage of this special part of our world. Enjoy.

Celebrating 100 Posts - A Challenge

Yes, we are closing in on our 100th post . Truly amazing. Thank you for reading and participating, helping keep the ideas, words and photos flowing. In honor of this momentous occasion, let's have a party. A party where "100" is featured. Do not become concerned if an idea doesn't pop into your head right away. You have one week to come up with something which includes 100 . Think party, celebration and fun. Think creatively. Think challenge. Photography is about expressing yourself, and challenging yourself. Here's a real stretcher! Celebrate with us by posting a photo (or series) which depicts the number 100 in some way. Let me know if you're going to participate and I'll create a way for everyone to link to each other's pages - chuckling, laughing, crying and surprising. You'll be amazed what you see when you start looking. Still at a loss? Here is a non-exhaustive look at the number 100: 100 years ago (something nostalgic- there's wigg...
