Wishful Thinking

I don't mean to complain, but I just don't like to be cold.  On days like today, when the wind blows and the shutters rattle, I think about warm weather and sunshine.  I don't take photographs as much this time of year, either, and I am thinking of ways to try and rectify that problem.  I mean, how many bird pictures can a person take from their window? So if anyone has any suggestions for finding motivation to get out in the cold, please let me know.  I'm looking for my muse - has anyone seen her?

Blessed Christmas!

Wishing all of my friends, family and readers a very Merry Christmas.  Enjoy time with family and friends, and remember that we are truly blessed.  Pray for those who are hurting, that there may be a moment of peace and comfort in their lives. Today what I am doing?  Preparing "the meal" and entertaining family.  Candlelight service at church tonight helps settle me into the spirit of this holiday season, and a lovely morning with my husband, by the fire, to look forward to tomorrow.   I love my life:).  Love yours!

Finding Time for Photography

My new job is getting in the way of my creative endeavors, but I am starting to develop a new philosophy - scheduling time for those things which are important to my quality of life. One of my writing partners and I finished a major project, 3-4 years in the making, and there's a little bit of a "let down."  I hadn't anticipated that, actually.  Relief, yes.  And joy in seeing the completed work, with my own photograph on the cover.   A sense of accomplishment, definitely, as well as a list of what to do differently "next time." Another writing partner and I have a work in progress, and this should be in the next step toward publication during the winter/spring period of 2013.  Again, I'm looking forward to seeing this book through to completion, and getting it in the hands of children and parents.  Will it have our own photography in it?  That's a discussion point right now. Photography - a dual passion with my writing - is...

Published, and Tired

It has happened...our book is published and the hard work was well worth it.  Amazon is now carrying the book, and it will be on Kindle as well as with select book sellers soon.   I Was There...The First Christmas.  It sounds like a series, doesn't it?  Well, we shall see.  Right now a rest is in order as it seems as if this has consumed us for years.   Oh!  It has!  Though the stories in this book are written by a number of contributors, it feels as if we've written them, too.  We have woven a big picture with all the little pieces, and the product is a lovely study book for the Advent season.   We knew there wouldn't be many photographs in this book, so what you see here is what you will see in the book.  This stain-glass star is meaningful to me, as it comes from broken stained glass windows in our church.  It is truly a guiding star - for this book as well as for me.   And t...

Creative Project Realized

Thankful this Sunday morning of Thanksgiving weekend for the joy of seeing our book come it's full circle.  Not available quite yet, the final proof is approved and it's gone to press.  Three years in the making, this book is a collection of stories by people around the country who have written from the perspective of someone who might have been part of the original Christmas drama which unfolded so very long ago.  The cover photograph was taken on our journey to Ghana two years ago - a fitting photo from an area of the world resembling that of our writing.  There is minimal photography inside this book, though a very meaningful photo does adorn the lead page to each section.  More story to come on this:). Set up in a Bible Study format, each section matches the themes of the Advent season.  Three stories in each section, study questions at the end of each section, and 12 different perspectives all blend to give you another way to explore the "re...

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Already?!

The passage of time amazes me, does it you?  One day I'm starting a new job, and the next it's Thanksgiving.  Where have the last 4 months gone?   There hasn't been a lot of picture-taking time, and that's a little frustrating.  But I am always recording "moments" which capture my soul and imagination.  Sky-watching does that for me, and I hope it does for you.  As the seasons change, and the sky displays it's various splendors, I continue to grow my file of splendid moments. Enjoy!
